Just open the app, wait till all the scanning done, no need to open a project. Just watch the wasting of cpu.
The system is running in a real time mode, that costs resources. Always.
Real time audio processing isn’t that trivial as many think. Modern software lets it feel easy to the user.
Cubase consumes 1%. I think Nuendo has a huge bug.
Both DAW use some additional features. Some are modular parts for the audio engine.
Or you have loaded a plugin in the control room! Something like Sonarworks?
Nothing is enabled in Control room.
So, the bug is - DEACTIVATED (not just bypassed) plugins in Control room section consume CPU power
Which plugins?
Nuendo is consuming 1-2% on my system with activated control room, an empty project (Stereo in and out) and loaded CR plugins (SoundID, SPAN, SuperVision).
Is this not true in Cubase as well?
Any plugin loaded in lower section. Ircam The snail for example. Do you use mac version?
No, just Nuendo bug
Mine uses between 0.37 and 2% of my much, much, much older Intel PC. I guess they shipped out bugs to random users, that’s how software works, right?
My system specs are listed in my profile.
Incase this helps my spec’s are .
M3 Max 128GB 8TB drive OS 15.1
Cubase 14.0.10
Nuendo 13
Cubase no Project load just App running
Nuendo no Project load just App running
For some perspective, this is Cubase 14 running a 232GB project (my Mac is 128GB)
Interesting. Could there maybe be optimisations in v14? Because Nuendo is at 13 and Cubase at 14?
Or your preferences are different or some setting that only Nuendo has.
Also: as long as that 9% doesn’t diminish the capacity of your system in a meaningful way. Is there really a problem? So: Are you hitting the ceiling/limit on your sessions yet?
I’ve got a similar problem. Basically maxing out the ASIO-Guard with very simple Sound Design sketches with my AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 Core processor. Should I upgrade my PC? And If yes, what CPU+Mainboard Combination should I get?
I didn’t know about the issue until I bought iStat menu resources monitoring. Having it in front of me I noticed the coolers are spinning.
it is not a machine issue, but Nuendo software, in my case. And Steinberg deleted my bug report here, so I think they are not going to fix it.
I wasn’t trying to hit the limit. I’m just building this inactive template with loads of stuff that I may or may not use far too many of the same thing. Just variations from different companies, the settings are identical on both. In fact I use the same preference folder for both.
I’m looking at your latest screenshots and see lower cpu load on nuendo than on cubase… that is the opposite of what your claiming… or am i misreading this.
@grayedout Wait you are not the original poster and i clicked the wrong reply button.
So my earlier message was not intended for you.
