Nuendo 14.0.40 maintenance update & release notes

They are frequently looking for beta testers here in the forum. I remember there was a post this summer but I didn’t have the time so I passed

I’ve only seen them look for beta testers once in the last 10 years. Where do we find these “frequent” request you reference? It doesn’t come up on the search bar.

Nektar Panorama CS 12 user here.

It was a mistake to update to 14.0.40, I do not recommend!

The MIDI Remote Manager is even worse than in version 14.0.32.

Still the device does not start with the program - the only thing that helps is going to the MIDI Remote Manager window and pressing “reload scripts”.

New problem have appeared:

  • after a while, two-way communication stops working - the device receives the fader position, but Nuendo does not receive it. This is a new problem!

Roll back the driver and hopefully it should resolve.

I contacted Nektar about the CS12 controller withe same issues and they told me there are 2 problems their trying to fix. One is the new UA Console version and the other is a Windows 11 update. Both are interfering with internal midi messages to the controllers. They are working to resolve these issues.

This was one of these posts. It really helps to have the forum main page open in a pinned tab. But as many musicians are probably too busy with work - in most cases even too busy to even report bugs - it just stays mostly unnoticed

I admit I am also too scared to mess with my system because of how faulty test software usually is.

this is a beta request for cubase… not Nuendo..

I’ve never seen that

Cubase and Nuendo development go hand-in-hand. There are some additional modules and plugins that are only available in Nuendo but both are essentially the same DAW. Nuendo inherits all the features Cubase receives with every new version. I haven’t seen any Beta signups for Nuendo yet because I just joined the Nuendo crowd this year

After the update all my midi remote mappings are gone! This is a disaster! Can’t reload them by importing the Script File Backup. Is there a way to restore the mappings? The surface itself is fine but all mappings are gone

Not wholly true. Nuendo’s internal architecture is slightly different from Cubase’s, especially in Atmos Ambisonics and other multichannel-related handling. I suspect it’s because of the film requirements—specifically import and edit sync, as well as reconforming—that make its architecture fine-grained and thus more complex. Though the basic audio engine and functionality overlap.

That’s the exact post that I saw, the only one ever in at least 10 years of following this forum.

@TimoWildenhain !!!Nuendo has become completely unusable!!! When loading a Template and not having the midi device switched on or disconnected it loads the script whith no assignments. When connecting the device (i don’t have all my devices connected all the time), assignments are not being loaded! This is because in the documents folder → midi remote → user settings the global mappings files have previously been replaced with empy assignments when being loaded without a connected device. This means i always have to copy an assignment file into this folder again and again! Sorry to say Timo, this is unacceptable! I also had to completely reconfigure my midi devices after updating to 14.0.40 because all assignments were gone.

And still color inversion on selected events has not been made optional making Dialogue Edit impossible.

totally agree! Updating really not recommended. I went back to N13

Why so many Steinberg apologists? More than likely a Mac user.

Frustration.

PC user.

What is there to apologise for?

A lack of Ripple Editing, DOP, or else something to do with Dolby or transcription?

Never mind VCA’s, or hardware.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, test your software better. I’m installing both updates (Cubase & Nuendo) right now and reading through this thread I feel a familiar, creeping anhedonia taking hold.

This really has to stop, Steinberg. Your testing is simply inadequate and you need to find ways to get the Yamaha mothership to help you revamp your testing apparatus, how you go about certifying updates for release.

This simply can’t go on.
