Nuendo 14: Adding ARA extension to event changes timing

When I add an ARA extension to an event, playback of that track starts a few seconds too early. Removing the extension again also fixes the playback mess.

How can that be?

I’ve had the same thing happen to me, as well as clips randomly being 4x as loud. Only when using ARA extensions. One time it layered a clip on top of itself, offset by a second, making this weird double ghost affect. It’s difficult to reproduce because it seems to happen randomly, but it’s fairly consistent that something weird will happen when using ARA. This has happened with both SpectraLayers 12 and Auto Align Post.

Basically, no ARA extension works for me. They all change the timing of the Event i.e. Track they are added to.

Does this mean ARA is completely broken in Cubase/Nuendo or am I missing something?

I tried it with Synthesizer V, and had no issues.

I have latency maxed out, though however since I don’t record instruments, live other than the output of VSTi’s.

Is Synthesizer V an ARA extension?

It uses an ARA extension, for tempo syncronisation, as well as audio rendering inside the plug-in.

Same here. It seems that clip gain is being multiplied when using ARA extensions on N14. I’ve reported this multiple times, but every SB personnel in this forum has actively ignored it.

The “ghost effect” has also happened here a few times. Only closing and re-opening Nuendo solved it, but the ARA work was lost on that event.

Pretty bad. But nothing else comes close to Spectralayers and AAP2, so… We got to push on through.
