Nuendo 14 Crashes on Dialogue Transcription

Hello dear team behind Nuendo,

I’ve just decided to give a Try to Nuendo 14 since it offers many new and interesting features.
I’m a long time Cubase and Dorico user.
I have decided to check how the “Dialogue Transcription” tool works, with transcribing Bulgarian dialogue.
Unfortunately Nuendo crashed on calculating process…

Here are the dump files (UPDATED 22.04 - the link is valid for 3 days):

Hi there,

Can you please attach a screen shot of the settings you used.

(This is presuming you did download the speech models with the download manager.)

And also, if possible, it would be helpful if you could provide the project, or a clip of the actual dialogue used that would enable it to be checked.

Cheers.

Hi @Phil_Pendlebury,
Happy Easter!
Thank you very much for your reply!
Yes, here is the screenshot of the settings I’m using:

Yes, I have downloaded the AI Models:

And here is the problematic project (3 days active link from now on):

I hope this could help solving the bug…

I’m wondering if those AI Transcribing Models support slavic languages?!

Best regards,
Thurisaz

HI,

I could not check the transcription because I don’t know this language. But I used the “Fast” mode, and the results seem to work:

So, this would indicate that there is another issue.

2 things I observed:

  1. I do not have the Ozone Plugin (can you try it without that just in case it is relevant)
  2. The dialogue itself is very rough. (Maybe that was what you used Ozone for). However, it did work for me without any issues.

I will send you a cleaned up version of your dialogue anyway just in case it helps. Give me a few mins…

Hey, @Phil_Pendlebury, thank you very much!

Well, the transcription is completely incorrect  hahaha
I’ll try to follow the suggestions of yours, to check, if the other methods will bring something
meaningful.

Thank you once again!

Kind of to be expected as I only used the Fast method and the dialogue is very messy to be fair.

Here is an attempt to clean it up:

I will now try with clean dialogue and do a slower transcription…

Also have to add
Slavic? Is that not an ambiguous term? I mean it could be Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Czech, Slovak, and others? Aren’t these all classed as Slavic? Forgive my ignorance, I am not really educated in that area.

Aha! I just saw again in your first post, it is Bulgarian. Sorry. Bulgarian is on the list of supported languages.

This is an excerpt of what I get using Fast mode on the cleaned dialogue.

I guess it is still probably not correct, but the main thing is, there is no crash.

So hopefully someone from SB will grab your crashdump soon.

@Phil_Pendlebury

I have already tried everything. Even to completely clean up the project of any plugins.

It always crashes, no matter which mode I’m trying to use… I don’t know why?!
Probably I’m doing something the wrong way?!
I hope the team will take a look at the crashes and the project! The plugins have nothing to do with the crash.

The group of Slavic languages contains:

  1. Bulgarian - as the oldest of this group (developed with grammar and alphabet. First Glagolitic - developed at Polychron Monastery, by St. Cyril and spread with his brother Methodius, and their students and a bit later - the Cyrillic, developed in Preslav’s and Ochrid’s Bulgarian Schools, by Chernorizets Hrabar, Naum of Preslav (in the capital of Preslav) and Climent of Ochrid (Ochrid’s School) ).
  • Macedonian (as dialect of the Bulgarian, heavily influenced by the Serbian)
  1. Serbian
  2. Croatian
  3. Slovenian
  4. Czech
  5. Slovak
  6. Polish
  7. Ukrainian
  8. Belarusian
  9. Russian
  10. Montenegrin
  11. Bosnian and Hercegovian

I don’t know it always crashes here?! I’ll try to re-install the AI Models…

Thank you once again!

Hi @Phil_Pendlebury,
Still having the same problem. I have reinstalled both Nuendo and the Dialogue AI Transcription Models, but it doesn’t help, too.
I hope the team will take a look at the project and the dump files, in order to fix it.
Surely it’s not a plugin related. The crash appears even when there is zero plugins inserted.

Thurisaz

Have you been able to submit the dump files to anyone at SB?

Hi @Phil_Pendlebury ,

Sorry for the delayed reply! I was gigging abroad with a band.

At least I have tried many times by sending the dump through the After Crash Dialog of Nuendo. I hope they will take a look, if they have it. I don’t know if someone of the team was able to download it from here?!

Best regards,
Thurisaz
