Nuendo 14 - Video Player issues

Using the new Video engine in Nuendo 14 with a ProRes Proxy and it won’t allow frame backward sync. The video stays where it is and won’t move until you frame forward. And then it’s 1 frame out of sync. Very strange. Nuendo 13 works fine.

Not experienced this, can you maybe try doing a re-convrert to Pro Res in Shutter Encoder and see if it still does it? I tried a trailer convert to pro res in Shutter Encoder and plays without issue in N14. Weird that your video plays just fine in the old N13 video engine!

I’ll give it a try. I use the Adobe suite to do my encodes and never had this issue before.

Tried many other videos. Same problem.

They play fine. They just don’t frame forward or backward fine.

this is a long shot and doubt if it would make any difference but the preferences folder has a ‘Nuendo Module Cache.xml’ file in it (which contains an entry for the videoengine’ and also a ‘VideoCodec-Apple-ProRes’ entry. Maybe delete it and see if that has any affect at all?

We at Steinberg observed something similar a few days ago for 25 fps videos:

Importing a 25 fps video into a project with a different fps, and then changing the project frame rate to 25fps. Afterwards the video is off by one frame, and backward stepping frames does not work.

We are already looking at it.

Question, do your tried videos have all the same frame rate ?

I have worked with 23.98, 24 and 25, all with the same issues.

Thanks.
I will add these frame rates to our bug ticket.
