Nuendo freezes after pushing playback on Windows 11 24H2

Hi everyone,
after i did some update to nvidia drivers, Windows build ans Asus Mainboard drivers and devices, I am facing a weard issue Nuendo is freezing after playback.
When I open a session, I have no problems on editing, puting plugins into mixer, etc. But if I push playback for the first time, it starts playback and freezes on the stop command. The transport highlights both, playback and stop at the same time. Anyone has an idea to fix this issue? After updating, my black magic mini monitor card did not appear. only after reinstalling the current drivers.

What i did:

  • reinstall BM video drivers
  • reinstall Focusrite Audiodrivers
  • uninstall Nuendo 13 and perform a new installation
  • renaming Nuendo 13 options-preset in the appdata

Maybe it could be important, i had some problems on installing new asus devices-sdk.

Windows build: 24H2 (26100.2605)
Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0
Nvidia game ready-driver 566.36
Black magic design desktop video setup 14.3
Nuendo 13.0.51
Focusrite audio drivers 4.119.13.33
ASUS devices-SDK 3.00.40
all mainboard driver updated recently

The Nvidia Game drivers are known to cause a lot of problems in Cubase, so I guess you might have the same problem here with Nuendo.

You should replace this by the Nvidia Studio drivers

NVIDIA Studio Driver 517.40 | Windows 11

this old driver is a security problem!
does more current versions works as well?

And i have no grafical issues.

The only thing to watch for is that you are getting a Studio Driver, no gaming drivers. Sorry if the link points to an old release, of course you should always use the latest.

I installed the Studio Driver and restarted my computer. Same issue, so it’s not the grafic driver.

Ok, it was a guess and unfortunately it is not helping out.

It’s Desktop Studio 14.3 - see the latest article on Steinberg support. It says:

If you depend on Cubase and Nuendo being compatible with Blackmagic Design hardware, please use Desktop Video 14.2.1 until further notice.

We are in contact with Blackmagic Design and will let you know here as soon as a solution has been found.

Holy moly,

thanks for this hint. Now it is working. the BM drivers were the issue.

I appriciate it

The studio driver site for reference:

Why? i solved my issue and it was not the nvida drivers!!! Stop this and read first! @st10ss

Yeah this also fixed my problem with the nvidia drivers!

Just for reference, because the other link is leading to an older driver.

I know that. That’s why I wrote, just for reference.
