i have trashed the defaults.xml file in preferences in nuendo and so far it has loaded up ok. we will have to see for how long. it may have got corrupted somehow
Unfortunately this has not worked fully as again on startup today ( not been in studio since the other post) it again stopped as per the previous screenshot at ARA Spectralayers when starting up Nuendo.
This was what I received with suggestions from Steinberg Support several weeks ago: I was using nuendo 13 although iI mistakeingly wrote 12 but 12 was working previously until I tried the demo of SA 11, where the problems arose.
Excuse the very late reply!
May I ask you why you need again for Nuendo 12 if you have already got Nuendo 13, please?
You could try to reset your program preferences by generating a new preferences folder.
To do so, you must rename the folder mentioned below. Note that the user library is hidden. To access it, please click on the “Go” menu in the menu bar of the Finder. When the “Go” dropdown menu appears, you need to press and hold the key “alt” on your keyboard, which adds the “Library” entry to the menu.
Now please rename
"/Users//Library/Preferences/Nuendo 12”
to
"/Users//Library/Preferences/x_Nuendo 12”
Important: If you find folders of previous program versions, make sure to hide or remove them too.
Preferences that have taken a lot of time to configure - the key commands for instance - can be copied from the inactive folder to the newly created active preferences folder at a later point.
Please let me know if you need Steinberg Technical Support’s assistance again.
Best Regards
Obviously none of the above has worked to sort out the issue.
I had also installed cubase 14 and that didn’t seem to cause a problem with SA loading up although I only tried a few times and decided to trash / uninstall all cubase as it was messing up prefs etc.
Hmm I have found two SL vst3’s in my plugin folder. Taken out the earlier one and has loaded up past the ARA…
Will see if that is the culprit which makes sense but not sure how it wasn’t replaced/I missed that somehow….
ok that didn’t actually work as there was no ARA SA being loaded.
i found that the vst3 plug that i left was 2k or so and the one in the bin 1.6mb…
seems that the vst3 plug has a contents package that has another vst3 plug within.
put it back and still no ARA. So re-installed the last download for the 6th time or so and so far so good. Have opened nuendo 5 times or so and no issues yet.
seems like it may have been the “defaults” needing clearing up and perhaps some corruption happening in places, requiring a further install.
Same problem today spinning wheel at ARA SL all my other 7 ARA are fine ……. The SA app will load up no problem. 11.0.50. build 398
Is no one else having this problem or knows how to fix it?
I force quit nuendo and then re-start and ARA service scans them all again and this time SL is ok. Next time? who knows? This should not be like this and is only on SL.
Hi Robin, Sorry for my very late response, I just thought I would wait for Nuendo 14 and hopefully it would work as it did in cubase 14 demo which then created the problem afterwards…
Model is Apple M2 Max ventura 13.5.1 32gb
Just installed SL 11.06. and the same problem when it starts up. Nuendo scans all other ARA and then gets stuck on SL,. I have just moved 2 x vst3 SL plugs from the plugin file, so I can get nuendo to start up.
