I’ll add that it worked fine all week recording 4-6 ch for up to 8 hours at a time so I wasn’t expecting this to happen
Oh, and there were no error messages in Dante controller
Mac Studio M2 DVS 64ch 10ms stable Dante network
same dropout problem
Macbook pro M3 max 32ch Via USB All good
When I run Nuendo Live 3 under Rosetta, it quits while attempting to open. This happens every time, so the suggestion that Rosetta will be a solution is not working for me.
MacBook Pro M1 Pro. Sequoia 15.3
During a test recording, I deleted some files from both the project and the folder. After that, an error occurred while recording, and empty files kept being generated until I stopped and restarted the recording.
Running Nuendo Live under Rosetta fixed it for me. It has been solid for the last 3 weeks so far. MacBook Pro M4 Pro running macOS 15.5
Interesting. As I said above, it simply won’t open on my M1 MacBook Pro under Rosetta.
I have the same problem. Bought a brand new M3 Macbook for live recording and Nuendo Live 3 stopped after an hour with the drop out detected message. Luckily I had a backup recorder.
I can understand that there is a bug, the message makes sense but stopping the recording doesn’t make sense to me. It could create a marker or a new event when a drop out occurs but the transport shouldn’t stop. This is a bad design choice for a software that is intended to provide reliable live recording.
I too bought Nuendo live 3 specifically to use it for recording live performances multitrack. It was advertised as being stable as a rock, only focussed on one issue, being a solid, hassle free recording platform; a digital tapedeck. But it appears to be far from that. I did a test recording and within 5 minutes it stopped recording with the afore mentioned audio dropout. I understand it is a stripped down version of Nuendo….could Steinberg at least re-enable the option to ‘keep recording on dropout (log errors)’ as the full Nuendo has that option? And please patch this quickly since a lot of people are waiting for this fix (and I have a show to record in two weeks, and just paid 199 euros for a piece of software that - for its intended purposes - is useless as it is now)
*edit: In the Windows device manager I disabled the NVIDIA GPU so that only the Intel graphics card is available for rendering the screen. This helps a lot, as I did a test recording. (It’s still recording as I type this) and 58 minutes in Nuendo live didn’t drop out. When monitoring system latency (LatencyMon) all is green now (little system latency). But the first 10 minutes or so after booting up the computer, latency was much higher and audio dropouts would occur. Inthe first period after booting up, there is a lot of communication between the OS, CPU and BIOS to sort out powermanagement, performance settings and what not.
So it seems wise to let the computer settle down for 15 mins before starting any recording session with Nuendo live.
Nonetheless, I still think Steinberg should let the audio engineer decide if they want a flawless but incomplete recording (useless to the client) or a complete recording with a few glitches that can be restored with todays AI-driven tools (usefull to the client).
*edit 2: A few minutes after i started typing this message, the powermanagement (ACPI.sys) kicked in to allocate more resources to the browser I’m typing this in and presto: an audio dropout and the recording stopped. I would not have been able to finish my recording of the planned show. So again: Steinberg, please let me decide what i want to do with a glitch.
I was about to upgrade from Nuendo Live 1.1 to Nuendo Live 3 when I found this thread. Has this been resolved? Is Nuendo Live 3 reliable on Mac Intel and Apple Silicon machines?
Resolved… download Reaper for live rec.
Thats unfortunate. The UI in Reaper is pretty mediocre for small screens and old eyes.
They released one update, which did not fix the issue for me. After some exchanges with Steinberg support, which did nor resolve my issue, I gave up and went back to using Reaper for live recording. At least Steinberg refunded me. It’s a shame, since the workflow was really good. That’s no use if it doesn’t work reliably, which, in my experience, it did not. Maybe there will be a version 4 at some point. Maybe it will actually work, but I’m not holding my breath.
What was your specific issue with Nuendo Live? I’ve not had problems with tracking but rather just need a better UI on the screen for show site recording.
I just finished a month long tour, recorded 52 tracks every night to a macbook air with an external SSD. Audio was coming in from an RME Danteface. No problems at all, first tour with it and im glad bought it.
