Akai has BOTH; even Presonus has BOTH…We need this Yesterday, or the Student becomes the Teacher. From a dedicated user of Nuendo since DAY 1.
ok i’ll bite.
Integration is nice and all but i’d rather see bug fixes and a holistic approach to what nuendo users need in terms of workflow for the future (not the ai hype train).
Nuendo has it’s basis covered quite well (mediabay, ARA and their own vst3 hosting).
Doesn’t mean i don’t welcome stem separation but it is also already available from plugins (spectralayers/acon digital/etc). Splice integration is imho just another platform that can deliver sfx and music clips… i work in post and use soundminer and soundly. This works fine and mediabay is also pretty good.
I do not see the advantage of including all current tech in a daw when you can have it alongside just fine. It is a race to the bottom to hunt all features.
Also: Nuendo has other powerful features not available in daw’s like ProTools or Presonus (auto alignment, EDL import, Reconform) that are aimed at post production already, i’d rather see them focus on that and fix bugs.
But maybe that is just me being a stubborn post production sound designer.
Nuendo does have stem separation as it comes with Spectral Layers One that separates music and vocals. You can upgrade to the full version if you want more stems.
Who is this ‘we’ you’re referring to?
Those of us interested in the future without paying an extra $300 for Spectral Layers. Thats who!
I think it is telling that you respond to the shortest message and respond with an !
You are kidding, don’t you?
Steve Jobs didn’t adapt in the first place.
Charlie Steinberg didn’t adapt in the beginning.
Most half-decent DAW’s use ASIO, so I don’t think SB would want to destroy a market simply to outdo the competition, merely just to integrate everything everyone else is doing all at once so maybe it is best to start creating functionalities via plug-in’s, instead, i.e., to extend the functionality of the DAW (which is what plug-in’s achieve) but not in an overly intrusive way, e.g., via menus, workflow changes etc.
For many businesses, it is about finding a balance between cooperation and competition, especially in technology based markets.
lol “the future”.
Just in case anyone reads this wrong; the bundled SpectraLayers One edition does not qualify a Nuendo/Cubase user, to ‘upgrade’ it to the full SL Pro version (in the accepted sense of the word).
Of course, one can always ‘upgrade the technology’ in this instance if required - but that would have to be as a unique, standalone purchase. Which I’m sure is what you meant.
I think the point here is integration. Currently for full stem separation, we don’t have to rely on buying an additional plugin/app on any of the prelisted DAWs.
This is where Steinberg is falling behind rapidly from their counterparts. They just incorporated the UI from Dorico which is to be commended.
In Nuendo there is a plugin to remove the dialog. It would be great if this works in reverse to leave us with dialog and remove the background. That would at least be something.
Cubase should by now have more Spectral layers options for separating, drums, bass, vocals – from the drum and bass crowd.
If you mean VoiceSeparator, It does both, Nuendo also comes with SPL one which allows you to seprate voice and music.
The Detect Silence module has some neat features for dialogue and background noise detection and splitting.
Stem separation would be great but that would hurt SLP. but most Nuendo users have several third party tools at their disposal.
