Off-Computer Storage

I use Cubase and Dorico and all the virtual instruments take up a lot of space. I have absolute and that already 130 gb of storage and I need my computer for other things too. Am I able to copy all of the sounds to an external hard drive and use that to store it or does it have to be on the same system as cubase or dorico. Or should I offload cubase and dorico to the hard drive too. I use a macbook M1 with 256 gigs of ram.

Yes, that’s fine. Of course it would need to online for use.

You can just copy the .vstsound files to the new location. Then click on any one of them and it will register all the files it finds there & in any sub-folders.

Those prefer to live on your system drive & don’t use much space. It’s the libraries that kill ya.

Another tip: use an external drive for Steinberg downloads – configure this in Steinberg Download Assistant.
