I have a ton of old finale files before I switched to Notion 5 years ago. My latest finale version was 25.5.0. I can’t seem to open finale now. How would I open these old final files? Looking for a cost effective way to do this… thank you in advance. I have a fairly new apple silicon macstudio with Sonoma OS
Finale 25 won’t run on Sonoma – it only works on Yosemite (10.10) to Mojave (10.14).
As a Finale user, you can buy Dorico from MakeMusic’s shop at $149 (plus taxes). You also get Finale 27 thrown in, which will enable you to open your files and convert them to XML.
If you’ve already bought Dorico, I believe that you can contact MakeMusic for a free copy of Finale 27.
It is possible to download a demo version of Finale 27 from MM’s shop, if you know your way around, which will give you 30 days to process your files.

I just transformed all my .Mus to XML yesterday!!!
I red Finale has given to option to update to 27 to everyone. Look in your Finale member space. 27 should work with your OS 14.
Do not install OS 15 and disable automatic update. Finale 27 will not be supported OS 15. It might work until… we don’t know when.
Also in your user account, you can find a very easy way to export a huge number of .Mus in XML. It was only 4 clics to me and took about 20 minutes to convert 1500 files.
I’m on the road for 2-3 day, but when I come back, I could send you the steps I followed to do so.

Finale 27 works perfectly well on OS 15 Sequoia. MakeMusic won’t help you if you do get any problems, though that’s to be expected.

thanks all for your help… I downloaded finale 27 but it won’t open on my Mac.
not sure what the problem is but it goes into " finale not responding" mode and I have to force quit.
Well, you can try contacting MM for support , though they’ll probably just tell you to re-install it.
Make sure you’ve removed Finale 25.

hey guys… I got rid of version 25 and still I can’t open version 27 … still not responding. I don’t know if this is worth 150.00 to open these files although it would be cool.
