Hello. I am returning to my music projects of long ago. The recording programs that I used are Cubase LE 1.07 and Sequel 1.0.1c. I saved projects to an external hard drive when I upgraded computers. I still have the CDs for install. However, I do not have the serial numbers or license agreement numbers for them. I have an authorization number for Cubase but entering that did not allow me to install. Can I call Steinberg support and have them look up my info? Do the old files work in newer versions of Cubase or Sequel? Thank you.
Hi and welcome to the forum!
As far as I can remember, Cubase LE 1.07 was based on the first version of Cubase SX and therefore should have the .cpr format for project files, which can be opened by all versions of Cubase released since then. Keep backups now!
If you originally registered your information, then perhaps, however I reckon those versions are older than most of the people working in support, so I somehow doubt it …
I think these were freebies accompanying hardware … if you register on MySteinberg and request an update, I think both Cubase LE and Sequel are now effectively free of charge, but you may have to request access to them. I know I can see Sequel for download in the Steinberg Download Assistant under “Complementary products”.
Thank you so much for the Info! Yes. The Cubase files are in .cpr format. It gives me hope of recovering old projects and moving forward with new ones.
