I recently bought an iPad Air (M3) exclusively for music production. I’m coming from an iPhone SE (2nd Gen). I’m using an older version of Cubasis 3 on my iPhone and everything is fine with it and I haven’t experienced this issue.
The issue I’ve noticed with Cubasis 3 (the latest version) on my iPad (iPadOS 18.6.2) is that when playing a series of notes live on the onscreen keyboard, suddenly a note doesn’t play a sound (as if the sound just stops) when I press that same note again it plays like normal. I also can’t replicate the issue, it just happens.
I’ve narrowed this issue down to Cubasis 3, as it doesn’t happen the other music apps I use, including GarageBand, Logic Pro and Music Studio.
Has anyone else experienced this?
If so, is there a fix?
And to the developers, are you aware of this issue?
I couldn’t find anything online or even on this forum describing this exact issue, but I have a video I can post showing the issue if that helps with understanding what is happening and hopefully leading to it being fixed.
I’ve had this happen occasionally (ie. some of the keys on the on-screen keyboard don’t play any notes) but I’ve yet to nail down why this happens and it pretty ‘random’.
Mostly it’s been happening when using the Halion based things (Halion Sonic Selection, FM Classic and Neo FM).
So for I’m not aware of any fixes other than using an external Midi-Controller…
Yeah, it’s an annoying thing to happen. I have added the video to show exactly what happens. The last 3 notes I play in the video are C, B (which play fine) but when I press A, you can see I press it but the sound stops.
I’m use an AU3 instrument here, but it happens when using Cubasis 3’s standard instruments.
We haven’t encountered the on-screen keyboard issue ourselves so far. However, our engineering team has implemented improvements in this area, which will be included in the next update and may help resolve the issue.
