One beat anacrusis

In this project the anacrusis measure should only last one beat, but I can’t seem to remove the rest at the beginning of the measure. I followed this method:

Add anacrusis without shifting notes

I have a score in 4/4 that begins with a quarter note rest. I need to turn it into an anacrusis of three beats. Shift-m, 4/4, 3 shifts the whole piece by one beat. Is there a workaround for this?

but it doesn’t remove the rest, it just moves the music. How can I fix this?

Select the rest and do Shift-B -1q

when I do what you describe, this is what happens, the music moves:

1. Select the G and type 4/4,1 into the Meter popover.
2. Select the now bar rest at the start and type -1 into the Bars popover.

Just a follow up to what happened. After deleting the quarter rest, the Time Sig was still set for a 2 beat anacrusis. Thus the shift.

You could have also selected the starting Time sig and entered 4/4,1. Then the -1q would have done the trick.
