I am trying the free Elements 8. I can make new songs but my previous songs in LE4 cannot be opened.
If I buy the Elements 8 will this continue? Also can I upgrade from LE4 to Elements 8?
Elements should be able to open Cubase LE4 projects:

Are you getting any errors? Can you post them?
You can’t upgrade from Cubase LE4 to Elements 8. It’s just way too ancient.
