Optimizing Cubase Performance for Large Projects

Hi everyone,

I am Emmanuel Katto and I’m working on a large project in Cubase with numerous audio tracks, VST instruments, and effects. I’m facing performance issues such as latency, glitches, and occasional crashes. Can anyone share tips on how to optimize Cubase for handling large projects?

Any advice on managing real-time audio processing to minimize CPU overload?

Try rendering your instrument tracks then disabling the original to save all the processing power being used by synths or CPU intensive effects, especially convolution and multi-tap reverbs.

In Studio Setup, check the box to enable Multicore processing and also try the ASIO Guard setting to see if that helps. Go with 32 bit precision processing instead of 64, which chews up a lot of CPU time.

If your machine works fine on small/medium projects but starts struggling on larger ones, first thing to try is freezing the tracks you are not actively working on.
