I would like to request feature changes to the select and draw tools, via user configurable options in the preferences menu.
(I am using Windows 11) Right now, the selection tool automatically switches to a modified “smart” draw tool when hovering over an automation line, and the actual draw tool itself does not replicate that same functionality when active. The automatic/smart draw tool version draws a single point on the automation line that can be dragged around by clicking/then holding mouse 1. The actual draw tool just draws points anywhere when clicked/dragged, but also adds a point before and after the drawn points.
I’d like an option in the preferences to disable the automatic select “smart” draw tool hover activation and another preferences option to be able to manually activate that functionality with the actual draw tool using a modifier key. Looking in the tools preferences, the draw tool only has functionality for one modifier key set up so 2 other modifier keys would be available for use.
I would also like a preferences option to have the single point draw tool functionality quantize drawn points when quantize is active.
And an option to disable adding points before and after drawn points when using the regular draw tool.
I understand that some people may want the tools to work as they currently do, and I’m fine with that, so, I would like options to customize these tool behaviors if desired. I know there are several request points in this post, but I consider them logically grouped as one feature request and I don’t think it would make sense for me to request them all individually.
