Does anyone know of a SMuFL version of the old Sibelius default Opus font—or a very close equivalent/substitute? From what I can tell, it doesn’t exist… but it would make my life a bit easier with a client project, so I’m hoping someone here may know something I don’t!
Looking for exactly this – or in any case a music font that has a larger default notehead size than Bravura (even in it’s “larger”) format.
I don’t think anyone has made one – it would depend on whether the font software licence for Opus allowed people to produce modified versions. (Bravura and the Finale fonts are all open source.)
You could scale the glyphs in the Notehead Set editor?
Hi Benwiggy, Yes, this is a solution, but it is going to be a real hassle to try to reliably execute this across multiple files, though I’ll try to figure out how to do it. I looked through the other music fonts and they’re perfectly lovely, but I’m just pining for something that has a naturally heavier notehead as the default. I was just comparing a publication we did in Sibelius to a newer thing I’m working on and the difference in readability on the bandstand is noticeable—even when Bravura is set to “larger notehead.” I’m also aware that music fonts are a huge undertaking compared to regular text fonts so there isn’t a huge selection, but was just hoping that there was something out there that already exists ….
