my symphony orchestra notesheet is far too condensed, convince yourself:
i already tried to change the page format to B4 or custom, bt that does not expand the voices enough.
is there an option to generally to this? e.g. in engrave mode you can change the distance manually, but can i do this as a general sheet pattern?

Reduce the space size of the layout? Use a condensed-parts layout?
I would second reducing the staff size - Dorico won’t do this automatically. You can change the size, click and apply and see the result without closing the dialog, making it easier to try out sizes until you’re happy.
Condensing for the printed score. Galley mode for note entry.
Finish all note entry before working on the layout.
