Order of activation 6ai to 7.5pro to 8pro

Hi All

I recently purchased a rather complicated cubase package from gear4music and would like to know how to activate Cubase pro8. I have not installed any version yet. It asks me to download Cubase 6ai then upgrade to 7.5 then free upgrade to 8pro. However, on the stienberg website the only option is to download Cubase 8 ai. So do I download 8ai, then downgrade to 7.5 the upgrade to 8?? Seems convoluted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would be talking to the people I bought this from. If they can’t give you exact instructions or help you… I would tell them I want a refund.

I’m not sure why you got involved in this (well I guess it was you wanted to save a couple of bucks), hopefully the people you purchased this from can get you straightened out.

Good luck.

I just went through this, presumably with a similar bundle to the one you purchased (mine included a CMC controller and Cubase 7.5 DVD - and saved several hundred bucks).
Download, install and activate AI8.
Install Cubase 7.5 from DVD.
Enter supplied activation code in eLicenser.
At this point your license should be automatically upgraded to Cubase 8 due to the grace period. The process automatically provided me a link to download Cubase 8 (9+ Gigabytes).
Trap for new players, the link I was given pointed to version 8.0.0 so I had to download and install the 8.0.10 update.

All that shouldn’t be necessary if you just make sure your license on the e-Licenser reflects the highest version of Cubase. Install eLicenser Control, insert your USB-key and activate your 7.5 license. This should indeed become a CB8 license before installing anything. Now download CB8 and install plus update(s). No need to install 6AI or 7.5.

Hello,

please follow the guidelines I posted here for the registration and activation of Cubase AI bundled with the UR22 Another UR22 Registration Problem - Steinberg Hardware - Steinberg Forums.

Once you have the activation code for Cubase AI 8, install the latest eLicenser Control Center (http://www.elicenser.net/en/latest_downloads.html) and activate the license for AI 8.
Once you have done this, you can use the upgrade code to Pro 8.

Registering the USB-eLicenser to your account (if not registered already) will add a download link to the Donwloads section in MySteinberg. You just need to install and run the program now, as the license should reside on the dongle already. As Arjan wrote, you don’t need to install any previous version.
