I know this might sound like a crazy request, but wouldn’t it be great if Dorico could send OSC messages (while playing)? This would expand the integration with programming environments like SuperCollider.
A tab option in the lower zone, to let each note separately send OSC bundles would be great. Also the possibility to add osc message triggers at arbitrary places of course.
If this dream comes true one day, then it would be great if the msg bundle include midi (microtonal i.e. 60.5, etc) / velocity/frequency and timestamps along with custom messages
I stumbled upon this post since I was just trying to do the same thing (integrate SC and Dorico).
Is anyone aware of any updates about OSC communication in Dorico?
Though there is at least one VST that I’m aware of (Kushview Element) that can read midi from Dorico and then output OSC to wherever including outside of Dorico. I’m guessing that if you are into Supercollider, that a little configuration or scripting won’t put you off.
For me it’s about sending microtonal information in real time (playback time) to SC. MIDI is limited in this respect. There are all sort of things one can do with OSC.
I guess implementing it would be not super hard so it would be great to see it in future
Well, it’s not so much about the final static score (actually is there philosophically such a thing?) but about the process of composing itself. In music for mixed media for instance it’s great to be able to compose, synchronize and refine the acoustic along with the electronic parts all at once. Of course there are workarounds, but a direct involvement of this process in Dorico would be great.
