OT: How to calligraphy music like Bach

Joost Witte, a talented Dutchman, can perfectly copy J.S. Bach’s handwriting.

How very, very neat! I’ve long considered Bach’s manuscripts to be some of the prettiest; they are clear and totally legible, while still having a wonderful sense of flow and motion to them. His subtle curves and bold strokes are iconic and feel perfectly organic.

Fascinating. And his link to a 2023 article about Paleolithic notation found in cave art - especially notation relating to the passage of time - is thought-provoking in terms of musical connections.

Nice project for Nor to try and create a new handwritten SMuFL font to emulate Bach’s style?:winking_face_with_tongue::exploding_head:

Or a NorPaleo (or perhaps the more medical-sounding NorPhenol) font to reproduce those calendar markings…! :spiral_calendar:

To really take this up a level, it would need contextual alternates to give “random” variations for note heads, stems, and beams!

And then typeset the Rite of Spring in Bach’s handwriting, of course.

Haha, no way! I’m not interested in making a Bach SMuFL either. I’m already done with that and my eyes are tired from all my previous works.
