OT: Recommendations for a PDF Reader with Decent Annotation by Stylus (for Proofreading)

I’m about to do a proofreading pass on a set of orchestral parts, and I would like to do that on my (Windows) tablet, marking up things with the stylus. The last time I tried to do this with Acrobat Reader, I quickly abandoned the attempt due to severe frustration.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an app that would be suited? Ideally, I would just jot down quick free-hand markings, as I would when doing the task on paper. If I ultimately had a list of all my markings that I can go through later when implementing the changes, that would be a nice bonus. But easy-to-add free-hand markings are the main requirement.

I like Xodo. I have it on my Surface (and MS pen).
Maybe it depends on what you did not like about Acrobat Reader?

Nitro PDF supports annotation layers with many types of objects including drawing tools. As for stylus input, I suppose that depends on what device you have.

As to making a summary list, I don’t use annotation so I have no idea. That’s quite a stringent requirement. How do you itemise a red circle at a location, for example?

Have a look at FoxIt PDF Reader. It has a decent range of annotation tools. (And it is FREE)
