Overdub recording into one file instead of multiple layers

Hey, I am new to Cubasis and it’s a great app!
One thing droves me crazy though is the layer recording when you are in loop mode. Have never seen this anywhere else and I am not sure what’s the point of this? Perhaps someone could enlighten me?

Anyway, I think it would be great to change this behavior in the settings menu in a future update?

Thanks!

Hi @wowzer

Thanks for your message and a warm welcome to the Cubasis forum.

Currently, Cubasis layers audio loop recordings on top of each other, similar to a looper. These recordings can be manually moved to different tracks. Additionally, you can slightly adjust the recording behaviour under “Setup/Audio”.

We continuously work to improve Cubasis with every update and may introduce alternative recording options in the future.

Best,
Lars

Hey Lars, thanks for your respond! I know the audio looper setting and have turned it on already. I am wondering why this setting is included in the audio settings instead of the midi ones. I know this behavior (kind of) from Ableton with the “take lanes” feature. And this makes sense when you could easily preview different takes but in cubasis this it very cumbersome (or did I miss something?). Best!

Hi @wowzer

So your topic was about MIDI loop recording?
It was not mentioned in the topic.

Please clarify and let us know about the details and your expectations.

Thanks
Lars

Thanks Lars, topic was for both midi and audio recording. But as I said I could live with this behavior in audio recording (and you already have solved it with the looper setting) but not so for midi. To me it makes absolutely no sense to have countless layers on top of each other in a loop…
Think of midi drums f.e.: start with the hats, 2nd round with snare, 3rd with kicks and so forth…
At the moment you have to select the loop, then glue it…tedious… I am not even sure that you can glue a clip when there is another clip right after that.
Best!
