Page numbers in header closer to the margin

Hi,

I’m building a template for myself right now and am getting frustrated because I can’t figure out a way to put the page numbers in the header. You can see how the page number is floating below the header, and there’s plenty of space, but it won’t let me put a text frame up there.

You should be able to drag that text frame up to the top of the page (click on its border to show the handles)

Assuming you want the page numbers centered, you can make updating the template later a lot easier if you use the properties panel to give the page field an indent of 10 px on both the right and left (and zero on the top). The left & right margin changes will keep the page number centered but also make it easier to click on the additional fields on the right and left sides.

Frames shouldn’t be allowed outside of page margins at all, but can end up there when you open a page template in a layout with a different-enough page size than the page size was when you last edited the page template, and the frame constraints are set on all sides (I think)

If you generally want information higher on the page, you should reduce the top page margin, then either move the top of the music frame down on the page template, or increase the music frame top margin.

Thanks Lillie, I went with your suggestion.
