Page numbers on First Page Templates hidden

Hello,

I have an octavo that I’m trying to set up in preparation for saving it as a template for future use. I have created a text frame on the First Page Template and inserted a page number token but for some reason when I move it to the upper right corner where it should be, it disappears with just the grayed out token placeholder showing:

However, if I move it down, into the music frame, the number appears. See the “1” which is the page number next to the Ab/Eb chord symbol:

Why is this happening and how do I get it to show up in the upper corner? Incidentally, I’m going to need to add an identical box to the left side of the first music page so that I have flexibility with regard to pagination. All of my subsequent page numbers on the default pages are set up correctly; it’s just the first page I’m having trouble with.

Thank you.

Brent, I had something similar yesterday*.
If you setup a page template for a certain Format, f.e. Letter, then use it for another (smaller) page size, text frames at the very top might get blown off.

*) I had my Part Layouts in DIN B4 and made a custom page template. I then made some additional Part Layouts in DIN A4 and was wondering why, after inserting the custom page template, the Page Numbers and the Layout Name weren’t coming through..

If you’re using a Flow Heading, the issue could be solved with this option:

Also take a look at this option, in Layout Options > Page Numbers.
