I am using NotePerformer 5 and Kontakt 7 in a playback situation. But when I set the pan positions in Kontakt, as soon as I hit PLAY, the pan positions all reset to Centre.
Also, with NotePerformer, more than one instrument are being passed through a single channel. See attached video. The guitar and harp are played by NotePerformer. Tar and zheng are played by Kontakt. Yet in the Mixer, signal only comes from the channels labelled Guitar and Tar.
NotePerformer traditionally sends all output through the first stereo channel, but IIRC the most recent versions allow one to assign different instruments to separate output channels.
Thanks for your reply. That’s bizarre! What is the point of having a multichannel player if the instruments can’t be placed on a sound stage. I have been using NP since very early versions and this has never been the case. It used to work very well with multiple channels.
I switched all instruments to a single multi-channel Kontakt instrument. All of those instruments have pan settings, all of which reset to centre on hitting PLAY. All are played through only one instrument on the mixer, the Tar channel, which is not even the first strip on the mixer.
I have each instrument assigned to a separate MIDI channel. No omni mode settings. And I have assigned the playback correctly in Dorico, and the instruments play, but the panning behaviour is as I described.
