Hey all, I’m having an engraving issue with this part. I just got done working on another part moving bars between systems without an issue. On the viola part, however, almost any action I take (deleting frame breaks, trying to move a bar between systems, ‘fit to frame’ functionality, etc.) causes everything to try and fit on one page. What am I doing wrong here?
Here’s the resulting view once I try to move the barline between m34 and m35 into the previous system using the button in the upper left:
The Frame Break at bar 1 is set to Wait for next (frame break) in the Engrave mode properties panel. Turning off that property (or just deleting that Frame Break entirely, given it’s at bar 1 and is likely redundant) will solve the problem.
The way “Make Into Frame” works is that a Frame Break is added that Waits for Next, as you have at bar 1, with a corresponding Frame Break at the end of the selection. The “wait for next” property does what it says: it tells Dorico to force music onto the page until it encounters another Frame Break. Thus deleting the next Frame Break (or moving the position of the next Frame Break up a system, which will necessarily delete that Frame Break) will cause the squish demonstrated in your second screenshot.
Alternatively you could add a Frame Break where you actually want page 2 to start, before deleting the Frame Break that’s currently at bar 33.
