Part Layout Difference

Please take a look at the two screen shots. They are from the same score. Soem of the parts have the Tit;e of the piece and the flow name under that while others (most) don’t have the title listed at all except for the small designation at the top of page 1 that looks like a flow title. Does anyone know why the parts are coming out looking so differemnt at the top of page 1? I must have something set incorrectly.
Thank you for any help.

It looks like your flute part is set to use the Default template for the first page instead of the First template.

Is there a green line above the page icon?

asherber,
I think you mean in Engrave mode on the right under “Pages”? If so, the answer is no. There is no green line above the page images. If you mean over on the lower right under page templates then, yes, there are green lines over there as you can see.
I tried weeks ago to alter my templates so they would look like I want them to but I think in the process I made a mess out of things.

When you select page 1 in the upper right, which template is selected below it?

Can you post your project?

Those green lines in the template thumbnails just show where there are frames in the template.

Look for the Layout options>Page Setup >Flows. You somehow have set the flute to Never use the First Page template, whilst every part uses the Flow heading (which seems here redundant with the project title)
Layout options are layout dependant — you select which layout(s) will be affected in the right column of those options, you even have a button to select all parts in one go.

Marc and Aaron,
This is how I would like all the parts to look with just the title, Part Name, and Composer at the top but I am having trouble figuring out how to set that up in the page templates.
Thanks,
Gary

Aaron,
I will post the project as I am sure that will help you.

@MarcLarcher is right – you need to set this setting in Layout Options > Page Setup for all of your part layouts in order for the layout to correctly use the First template.

Here is how the Page setup is set in Layout options.
Thanks.

As the name indicates, Layout Options are layout-specific. Notice the layout picker on the right – what you’re showing are the options for the full score layout. In order to set layout options for the part layouts, you have to select them all in the picker.

I would suggest toggling the setting to make sure it sticks, since your parts currently have some different settings. Select all the parts, set them all to “Any flow” and apply, then set them all to “Never” “First flow only” and apply.

You should do the same thing with the “Show flow headings” setting , because you also have some differences among parts there. Set them all to “For all flows”, apply, set to “Never”, apply.

Modified project file.

That did it Aaron. Thank you both for the lightning fast replies to get me going again. You were both very instructive. I just wish I could give more than one person per post the credit for the solution.
Have a great day, guys. You both have saved me many hours of time with your unrelenting and fast help.
Gary

(Not a big deal, but I would give the solution to Marc – he identified the root cause.)

Done. You are both very generous in helping me get my Dorico brain functioning and my Finale brain subdued. I am getting there slowly but surely.
