PC specs and Cubase 14 requirements

Will a PC with the processor speed below be able to run Cubase 14? The CPU speed seems low.

Hi,

Here, you can find system requirements of all current Steinberg products. That means, you will find requirements for Cubase 15, but they were in general the same for Cubase 14.

Of course, it depends, what kind of projects do you use. How many tracks, what kind of tracks (MIDI, Audio, Instruments), how many plug-ins (heavy or light plug-ins), what Audio Device do you use (good ASIO driver, or not), …

here is another article that describes what to consider for PC components for a DAW computer:

Generally the Intel Core i7 14700T is a lower power CPU, due to its low base frequency of 1,3GHz, and its 35W TDP.

You will be able to run Cubase, but low latency may not be possible, as that requires high CPU frequency.

Also large VSTi and VST loads may cause problems (audio dropouts) due to CPU throtteling.

Is it a mobile cpu? If so it really depends on what you want to achieve. Low latency vsti playing is surely possible (I’m using a 11th generation 1135g laptop for playing vstis live on stage at large venues), but projects loaded with inserts, and kontakt instances full of orchestral samples might be over the top.

Small to medium projects, and using some good workflow practices, you’ll be amazed at what it can do.
