Perc, staves not colapsing

I have this page where Perc 2 staffs are not collapsing into 1 (wanted).
Why? Fix?

No. This shows up as only one staff there: Perc 2

I’m not sure it’s possible since you have set hide empty staves to never. The Players excluded from hide empty staves only works if you set hide empty staves to on. So it should be the opposite. Hide empty staves to all and exclude all players except the percussion. I’ll try. Jesper

What if you turn on Hide empty staves under Library->Vertical spacing->Staff Visibility? You can then exclude all players except the percussion.

Yes, that fixes it. But seems like a can of worms for a large layout

Yes, could be. I don’t know why it doesn’t work without, though. Maybe someone else can figure it out. Had a similar thing before, as I showed in the linked thread. Couldn’t figure that one out either.

I think this is related to the fact that Instrument Change isn’t designed for situations where several instruments play at the same time, as happens a few bars earlier.

Here’s the same system, with the snare‑drum notes in the previous system removed, without changing your options:

I think it’s related to the two simultaneous perc./glock. notes in bar 14, which prevent the instrument change from working properly. You can notice that after the last drumset note, Dorico doesn’t display a change warning — I imagine that’s because it needs to indicate a single instrument, but the next note is played by two instruments at the same time. Quick test:

Now I remember why this is not optimal.
For condensing parts visibility is set individually for condensed, 1 and 2.
So, there is no way to set it right from the start

Flicking the hide after first system on, then back to never
seems to have fixed it.

It was a rendering glitch
