Percussion instrument "Caxixi" can't be added?

I believe that Dorico knows about Caxixi (african.unpitched.caxixi), but I can’t seem to find it in a menu to add. Neither as individual player, nor in a kit. Neither in Dorico 5 or 6.

Maybe I am looking in the wrong place, or missing something?

I don’t need it urgently (maybe no one does). I am making a map for a percussion plugin and it has a sample, so I tried to include it. Just got confused.

Thanks.

[Dorico is a product including such massive functionality - I’m not upset about one tiny thing.]

Dorico knows about caxixi… (just search in the add instrument dialogue)
Whether it plays back is a different matter.

Sorry, I’m using Elements 5 & 6 (I should have been more clear). I don’t think I have “Add instrument” available on a menu.

Take a look at this

The problem is that the instrument I want is not in the instrument picker.

========================================================

  1. In Setup mode, in the Players panel, select the player to which you want to add instruments.

  2. Open the instrument picker in any of the following ways:

    • Press Shift-I.

    • Click the plus symbol image in the player card.

  3. Select the instrument you want in the instrument picker.

Except that it is…

It doesn’t seem to be in my Elements 6.

The Steinberg comparison chart shows [at bottom of “Notation”]:

Dorico Pro 6 Dorico Elements 6
Unpitched
orchestral/band Customizable Limited
percussion

If I open Dorico in Elements mode it finds Caxixi.
Just enter caxixi in the search box.

Quite bizarre. Apparently typing in the search box “unhides” an item that is not in the menu. I wonder if there are any other similar cases. I don’t think I have the patience to test.

I added a player, added an entry in the percussion map (same trick is required), and playback seems to work.

So maybe it is still unexpected behavior, with a workaround.
