Typically when I submit orchestrations, the percussionists want everything as a percussion score – so I write all of the percussion instruments as a single player. Maybe this is a bit short-sighted of me, because now they want me to give them individual parts for each instrument.
Move instruments to separate players. You can still create a “percussion score” by creating a new layout, and assigning all players holding a percussion instrument to that layout, in addition to single-player parts.
E.g. using the very simple procedure demonstrated in this video:
Hey there! I’ve read your reply here about creating a percussion score, and watched the attached video several times. I’m sorry, but I just cannot figure out how to do this. I’m also not entirely sure I actually understand what you mean by “new layout”.
What I’m trying to do: I have 3 staves, one for each of 3 percussion instruments. I’m trying to keep just these 3 staves simultaneous on one part that I can give to a percussionist or to several percussionists to divide up the work.
Is there a narrated video or step-by-step on how to do that?
