Percussion: Trigger different MIDI note with different notehead?

Is it possible to trigger a different MIDI note in a percussion stave by using a different notehead? Specifically, here’s what I’m trying to do:

  1. Use a 1-line percussion stave for snare drum.
  2. When the normal (default) notehead is used, trigger a standard snare hit.
  3. When the X (cross) notehead is used, trigger a rimshot.

I have the rimshot sound assigned in the percussion map. I can trigger it with an articulation mark (e.g., accent or marcato, etc.) However, I was hoping that use of the “x” notehead would trigger the correct sound.

Yes, you can do this using the Edit Percussion Playing Techniques dialog.
