Performance issues in C13, much worse than C12...is there a fix?

Hi, I have an M2 Max MacBook Pro, top specs, 64gb ram

I’d been using C12 without too many issues, I could run a decent sized project with a lot of sample libraries/instances of Kontakt. I did eventually have to freeze some tracks, but it was good enough

I paid for the C13 upgrade. I’m now just making a track with a handful of Kontakt instances. Some very large libraries like Lores, but I’m getting cpu spikes so quickly.

I tried opening up the project in C12 (is it ok to open C13 projects in C12? Seems to work), and it seems to handle everything much better with the exact same settings

I’m using an RME Babyface. What buffer size should I be expecting to get away with? I like to use 128, anything more and I notice it when playing. If a project gets larger I up the buffer size . Should I turn off ASIO guard? Does anything help

Is there anything that can be done? I have seen various threads and Youtube videos with people having similar complaints. I saw people mentioning Audio Gridder, but I’d rather not have to use more software just to make this software work!

Does anyone know if Steinberg are addressing this?

Very frustrating, I have deadlines for these pieces and am spending most of my time researching!

Any help greatly appreciated

I’m sorry if this sounds patronising, but have you checked that you’re using the correct ASIO driver in Cubase 13? When I installed my Cubase 13 upgrade, it defaulted to the Steinberg built in ASIO driver and I got audio drop outs until I checked the ASIO driver.

I guess you’ve already done this, so I’m sorry if I wasted your time with this.

Sorry I didn’t get a notification about this reply. Yes I am using the right driver. This seems to be a common issues with C13, and its very frustrating

I paid to upgrade but will probably have to go back to C12
