Sometime whether it was installing Cubase 12 or one of its updates all of my personal star ratings on some sound files are gone. Am I up the creek or is there a way to recover this? I didn’t have any personal profiles saved.
When they add new content it is always (and stupidly) set to 3 stars. Could this be what you are seeing or are there specific items which you know have been changed?
In my opinion having 3 stars be the default makes the Media Bay Rating system unusable.
I had several sounds set to five stars and they have disappeared.
WOW, we have 2025, i use Cubase 14 and the Problem isn’t solved yet!
(I’m disappointed!)

Ignore the whole star based ratings scheme.
Instead you can create your own custom field in Media Bay. Could be as simple as a single number or something more complicated that reflects your specific workflow.
There are a couple of threads here on customizing the Media Bay that are worth searching for.
“For the moment I recommend to NOT use Cubase nor Nuendo 14.0.20 MediaBay Window for tagging. Tagging from HALion, Groove Agent, or earlier versions of Cubase / Nuendo should be fine and the new tags will be available in the global MediaBay (Server).”
first, thanks for the fast response. ok i have the problem also in the media rack section, it still works with own sample in the favorite section, but if i rste some sounds from the “Loops and samples” section, my ratings disappear after a while…don’t know why.
