Hello,
I am working on engraving the Cymbal and Bass part from Stravinsky’s Petrouchka into Dorico. This part is meant to be played by one person, so the rhythms are written between two instruments as if it were one instrument. I wanted to see if there was any way this was possible to do in Dorico.
Example below
Thank you!
Welcome to the forum, @kyrondaryl. You can do this if the instruments are part of a kit and are displayed using the grid presentation type.

You need a few things offset from the default to get precisely this notation:
- set the cymbal notes to normal (‘Larger’) noteheads instead of X’es (which is required for most symphonic scores anyway)
- increase the gap between the lines in the percussion kit editor
- right-click the ‘cross-staff’ notes and choose Stem > Force Centered Beam
- flip the notes in beat 2 to go up-stem
- select the rests and set their Rest pos. property to 0
