Pianoforte 'left hand' clef quieter than 'right-hand' clef

Can’t find anything about this, may be using the wrong search terms or maybe it peculiar to me, but I’m writing a piano concerto and the lower stave of the pianoforte is constantly at a lower volume than the higher stave, where it should be the same. Has anyone else had this problem; or any suggestions?

If you activate Independant Voice Playback for the piano in Play Mode

you’ll get one channel for each staff

and will be able to mix as you want:

It might be this under Library->Playback Options

Check the “Pitch contour emphasis” in Playback Options > Dynamics. Dorico provides “human” playback by naturally increasing the volume with the pitch – this is normally most evident in a rising phrase.

Obviously, it shouldn’t/doesn’t just play higher notes louder than lower ones! That would be terrible. I’ve usually found it pretty convincing; but it could be that for this particular music, it needs turning off or adjusting the parameters.

It could be something else, of course.

Thanks for the advice. How do I know which slider is which voice? They’re all just labelled Pianoforte. I ruled out Pitch Contour Emphasis: turned it off and it didn’t make any difference.

Did you also turn off Polyphonic Instrument voice balancing?

Then you’ll need to upload a document that exhibits the problem. Make a copy and change all the notes, if you don’t want your work in public view.

As @Janus says, from the description I think this is more likely to be caused by the “Polyphonic instrument voice balancing” than the “Pitch contour emphasis”.

Hi Janus, no, I didn’t know anything about that. I’ll have a look at it. Thank you.

Many thanks, turning off the polyphonic instrument voice balancing has done the trick. Many thanks for everyone helping. Love Dorico and the community.
