I need to create a pickup bar, which I have done, but now the system is weird, and I can’t quite figure out why. If I delete the pickup bar, it resolves the issue, but I am making an arrangement for my professor, so I need to include the pickup bar.
Hi @Jan_HuS, for some reason [Edit: @charles_piano gives the explanation of why, in his post below, thanks Charles!] your pick-up created system breaks for the last eight note of every system. How did you create the pick-up?
Actually the system breaks signposts should be visible: check if in menu View>Signposts the System Breaks are checked.
When you visualise them, you can select them and delete, or just click once on the Reset Layout button (in Engrave Mode):
In fact, Dorico remembers the rhythmic position of system breaks, so when you move barlines to a different position (e.g. when you create a pickup bar retrospectively), any existing system breaks get shifted as well,
It happens even if that option in Preferences is enabled (since it doesn’t concern system breaks that are already existing)
So you can either delete the system breaks as @Christian_R is describing, or move them in Write mode: select them, set your rhythmic grid value to eighth note, and press Alt+Right Arrow:
hey!
if i remember correctly i used the shift-m command, typed in C.0,75 or something like that.
i deleted the system breaks since i thought that would fix it, so that’s why they aren’t included in my photo. Reset layout unfortunately doesn’t work for me.
