Pickup + repeat + proofreader = ERROR

Sorry about this. Others have circled around failure with the cocktail of pickup, repeat structures and proofreader, but I can’t find a generic solution.
I try to boil down the problem into two very short and simple examples.
Example 1: These notes are completely out of balance. Bar 0 is a pickup, bars 4 and 8 are BOTH missing a crotchet, hence these notes are completely wrong - but NO proofreader message.

Example 2: Marking the notes in bars 3 and 4, then »Shift-R end« will generate a repeat sign properly. Now, the whole staff is correct - BUT now the proofreader goes crazy.
Please, someone to provide a simple general work-around.

Kind regards, hh

Welcome to the forum, @Helmer

In bar 4 and 8, you apparently used “Remove Rests”, which doesn’t delete the beats. So the proof reader reacts as if they were full 2/4 bars (which they are).

Instead of removing the rests, select them and use Shift+B, -1q. It will suppress the beats, and you won’t get any warning from the PR (and the note spacing will be correct)

To restore a removed rest, select the note before it and switch off “Ends Voice” in the properties.

Ah! Brillant! Seems that keeping the rest and then selecting it followed by »Shift-b -1q« did it. Very good point! Million thanks for your splendid solution and pointing directly to the issue (missing note vs. missing beat). Great. May the whole week and plenty of beautiful music be with you. Kind regards, Helmer.

You’re welcome @Helmer !
