Pitch bend playback is terrible in Cubase 14

I never had any issue with this in 13, but the pitch bend playback in 14 is very messed up. It sounds like it’s playing new notes during a bend (not smooth at all compared to how it sounds live). It also causes NI FM8 to just glitch out completely and stop producing any sound at all when it encounters this pitch bend data on playback (doesn’t happen in 13 or Ableton)

I suspect this is something to do with the “ramp” mode for CC recording. But it seems very messed up and a lot worse than in 13 (I didn’t even notice this ramp/step mode in 13 because the pitch bend playback always sounded fine to me)

I understand that switching to step mode is a workaround , but is there any reason why the ramp mode has been apparently made worse in 14?

Hi,

Change the Type of New Controller Event from Ramp to Step, please.

It’s counterintuitive, but as it stands, Ramp mode in Cubase produces a more stepped output than Step mode does. This has been discussed in several threads in the forum.
Here is an example using MIDI CC but the same applies to Pitch Bend.

Yeah I just would have thought they would actually improve the resolution/function of ramp mode from 13 to 14 rather than make it worse. As I said I never had to switch in 13 as the pitch bend output sounded accurate but in 14 it’s a total mess.

The tests I made in the link above was done in Cubase Pro 12. As far as I know, ramp mode has always produced a lower resolution output.
