Is there a way to change the font size and bold for pui mosso? It should not be the same as Moderato. or Allegro.
You could create a system text with a custom style and a hidden tempo mark if playback is relevant.
Sorry @eebiggs1 Curiosity piqued. Is this a secondary tempo? In which case, I think that this is sometimes done by not capitalizing the first word of the secondary tempo and/or reducing the font size.
Yes but I would like markings like pui mosso to not be bold and italics. A simple thing in Finale.
Cannot be done with preset tempo words. The Relative Tempo Change group are regarded as immediate tempo changes and follow formatting of Absolute Tempo Change group.
Yes, old-style engravings did use small italics
but this is not how Gould sees the world…
It has been reported for many years and perhaps in version 6.
You can take any of the gradual tempo changes and modify the text
but it will not play back accordingly. You can set the tempo to something else than 75% naturally;
Thanx
For whatever it’s worth.
I just bought three scores by Steven Reineke which show makings like a tempo, meno mosso and piu mosso in italics and a bit smaller font. All published by C. L Barnhouse. Yes these are a little older scores but it seems so very simple to have a category for tempo marks like these. Then the composer can decide which to use and not Dorico. Perhaps my biggest complaint with Dorico is how structured it is and how hard it is to get it to do what I want.
Good lord with the almost endless list of settings what is one more for these tempo marks?
I agree, besides the long list of Immediate Tempo words are for, me, completely uninteresting
Is there anyone that uses this list to set a tempo? Leaving the keyboard is just annoying when the same can be entered with keys much quicker. And, I cannot teach Dorico to keep it closed (forever),
It expands every time (on Mac).
cmd-9 will close the right panel entirely.
There are things in Dorico that are brilliant and then there are things you wonder what in the world. Of course you never know the reasons and/or intent but it seems to me the Dorico staff is resistant to make changes. My way or no way.
Yes, but I would like Dorico to remember the “drop-down menus” as well. There might be other things of value in the panels.
