There’s this function in the wave edit window,
there one can move the mouse over the time ruler (during playback), playing back a micro audio loop.
(I think it’s called playback browser)
I’d like to request an additional preference option, that then I release the mouse, the playback stops and the cursor
skips back to the point, where I released the mouse.
I think this might be quite convenient.
Maybe this is already available in the full WaveLab version,
but if so, I wouldn’t mind it in Elements also.

This is currently the case, what do you mean then?
Thanks,
tho I use the Time selection tool (double clicking and then dragging in the time ruler).
For this to work one option has to be unchecked:
Options menu>Audio file editing preferences>Editing tab>Playback browser>“Restrict to Play Tool”
I mean, that in my case the playback won’t stop after mouse release - as said here in WaveLab 7 Elements.
Are you saying, that this is not the normal behaviour that I am encountering right now ?
The normal behaviour is that the edit cursor stays where it is, on button release. Now, you can simply press the space bar if you want to stop playback. Or press Enter to restart playback from the edit cursor.
OK, this is exactly the same I see.
And of course this is a way to do it.
But I haven’t worded my request correctly.
(I shouldn’t have said “cursor” - the cursor indeed stays where it is,
I actually meant instead the indicator for the playback position.)
OK, so let me formulate it this way:
A request for an additional preference option for the Playback Browser function:
on button release automatically stop playback.
BTW, after a quick look into the old WaveLab 6 manual,
this option has been available at least in WaveLab 6.
