I’m new, but have watched many videos, and read parts of the manual. I am not able to have any sound on playback. What am I doing wrong, please?
What playback template are you using?
have tried various instruments. There is no sound when inputing or playing back the music.
Welcome to the forum @sheonasmith3
For a start, please create a project from piano template and enter some arbitrary notes. Then choose from the menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report which creates a zip file on your desktop. That zip file please send to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de.
From the contained logs and data I will get a first overview and then can come up with more specific advice.
Thanks
Thank you for contacting me. I discovered that there was no sound on my Finale either.
So I restarted (rebooted) my computer - and now I have sound on Dorico and also on Finale! Go figure - an easy fix.
Sorry about that
I do have a couple of questions about Dorico, if you would be kind enough to answer them
I don’t do orchestral music (yet), but simply write a melody line for my accordion, with chords that I want to place below the melody line.
How do I make Dorico have 4 or 8 bars per stave, and up to 12 staves per page?
How do I do 1st and 2nd time endings, so they are where I want to place them on the page? - eg 6 bars on one line, with the 1st and 2nd ending at the end of the line, and not in the middle of the next stave.
My music is for dance, and it was easy to create the page the way I wanted it on Finale, but I am really struggling with Dorico, and almost regretting changing over to it
regards

Hi @sheonasmith3 ,
good to hear that your sound problem is solved.
Regarding your other questions, well, unfortunately I can not answer them. I am the specialist on the audio engine side, but have close to no idea on the notational functionality, therefore please open another thread and pose your questions again. I hope and do think that the specialists from that other end will give you appropriate answers.
You can do that under Library→Layout Options→Staves and Systems→Casting off.

Create the 1st and 2nd endings: click the bar(s) you want to include to the 1st ending and press the 1st ending button on the right side:
The result:
Then go to Engrave mode, click the first note or rest in the next bar after the 2nd ending and either click “Move to next system” (or use the shortcuts: dot (.) to move to next system. (comma (,) moves it to previous system).
This creates a system break and the music continues from the beginning of the next line as you wanted to.
If you want to remove the system break, select it with the mouse and delete it in this same view in Engrave mode.
