Playback options resetting in recovered projects?

I have Marcato set to increase the written dynamic by 0.50 under Playback Options → Dynamics. However, I’ve noticed that after recovering a project following a crash, this setting appears to revert to the default value of 1.00.

Could this be a bug? It’s difficult to remember every adjustment I’ve made over time, and I would expect a recovered project to retain the same settings it had prior to the crash.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a reliable way to reproduce a crash, so I can’t confirm whether this behaviour occurs consistently.

I would think this depends on when you changed that setting. If it’s done after the autosave, that behaviour seems logical. Few programs save every mouseclick and keystroke in realtime.

If you did it prior that would be strange.

This particular change was made some time ago, well before the project was last auto-saved. However, it isn’t the first time I’ve noticed the value change without any direct intervention on my part.

On reflection, I’m reasonably confident that this occurs following a crash, but unfortunately I’m unable to reproduce the conditions required for the Dorico team to investigate the crash further. That said, perhaps the diagnostics might reveal whether or when a setting has been altered.

In case this is helpful to others, further investigation showed that the setting does not persist after being changed and the project is saved, closed, and reopened - no crash required! The team has confirmed this as a bug, which will be fixed in the next release.
