Hello everybody. I’ve just activated Dorico5 (another Finale user here), and while listening to the example projects there are so many bugs!!! especially as the project reaches its end. Any ideas, please?
Can you be a bit more specific about the problems you’re experiencing, @marilazar? Are you experiencing drop-outs or stuttering in playback? If so, try increasing the buffer size in Edit > Device Setup.
dspreadbury both of the things you mention (drop-outs and stuttering in playback) are observed. I changed the buffer size (it was at 256 and increased it) and the sample rate (it was at 4800 and reduced it), but nothing has changed.
You don’t need to change the sample rate, indeed doing so is inadvisable. But increasing the buffer size should improve matters.
Channelling my colleague @Ulf, I suspect what we need you to do is download and run an app called LatencyMon, which measures the real-time audio performance of your computer and might give us some clues about where to look next:
Yes, LatencyMon is the tool for such cases. Two things to mention, though:
First, get the free home edition. Second, run LatencyMon while Dorico is playing back and post a screenshot.
Thanks
Thank you both for your advice. Unfortunately, this is an .exe file, and I use mac. Is there any alternative for mac?
Oh, right, that makes your case a bit more difficult, because on Mac we don’t have such tool like LatencyMon. Actually there are others, but way more complicate to handle tools.
As a first basic step I’d then like to ask you to post here a diagnostic report.
So please start Dorico, load one of the projects and let it play for a few seconds and while it drops out, choose from the Dorico menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report. The corresponding zip file please attach to a reply here. Thanks
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (961,9 KB)
Also, Dorico still remains trial version, although it’s purchased! I’ve pasted the Access Code in the Assistant appropriate field.
Thank you
PS. I’ve just changed the Steinberg Activation Manager. I hope Dorico5 has changed to activated. I’ll check it later.
Hi, first of all, what does the Steinberg Activation Manager say? This is the place where you input your license code and activate a license.
Note, the Dorico installation stays the same. The available licence determines which Dorico features are accessible for the user.
Regarding the playback problems, thanks for the data by the way, from the logs and stuff I can’t find anything abnormal or so. I wonder though, what is your listening experience. Are only instrument voices missing or is the audio stream broken in the sense that for short times no audio can be heard at all?
Unshaken in Wiese, Iconica Trailer are OK when playing. The problem is Triumphant and Dorico Prelude, and the .zip was from it. I wish I could export it to mp3, so that we could check it.
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (992,3 KB)
But you can export to MP3 in Dorico. Under File > Export > Audio that is possible. So please try it out and see if you get the same audio experience as the live playback.
Additionally I’d like you to do the same as I gave advice in my posting here
Thanks a lot
