Playback with Solo String Sound

In playback of a draft string quartet I hear orchestral string sections. I’m using NotePerformer.

I think NotePerformer includessolo string sounds. If not I’d be happy with Dorico’s solo string library.

Where do I go in Dorico to get solo strings in place of orchestral strings? Is this something simple, I do hope so! (I’ve seen many very complex posts on this topic; most of which seem to make it a very complex topic).

You probably created section players instead of solo players.

You can go to the Play mode and click the little e to open NP mixer. From there you can change the sounds.

As @jesele says. If you create a solo player, both Dorico and NP will add solo sounds..

Here, Violin is a solo whereas Violin I (and II) are sections.

Yes, thanks - that is what I missed and the “player settings” redefines the player in one operation. :slightly_smiling_face:

You could also override the sounds.

That’s what I was (sort of) expecting to see initially.

But where do you click on the left to put up the NP dialogue on the right. If I click “edit instrument” (‘e’) I only get:

Click in the instrument name header in the NP mixer (“Solo Violin”, “Solo Viola”, etc.).

Great. Thank you.
