Player choosing between two instruments

Can a player’s part contain a choice between for example clarinet and alto sax for a section, having two staffs for that portion?

Yes, Dorico will automatically show only a single staff when a player has two instruments, unless the player is supposed somehow to play them both at the same time, in which case it will automatically show both staves for that passage.

Great, that must mean that if you pretend that the player will play them at the same time, they will both show up and he/she can choose which staff to follow in real time.
