My piccolo player staff in the full score has disappeared. The layout still exists, but for some reason the associated staff is missing. How do I add it back in? I only noticed this now after multiple resaves and re-edits because I was concentrating on the brass and strings, so if I go back to an earlier version where the piccolo is still there, all of my later edits will be missing.
In Setup, select the Piccolo Player and and check the Full Score Layout (right side) so both Full Score and Piccolo layouts show blue.
And then what? They are both blue. Dorico needs to add a piccolo staff at the top, but it doesn’t. How do I get the software to do this?
I notice for all of the other parts, the “Full Score” option also checked, but when I add this and make it blue along with the player and layout, there is still no piccolo staff at the top of the score.
Three things in Setup usually need to be “blue:” The layout, the Player, and the appropriate flow(s).
From what you have described, you may have to re-enter the Piccolo notes. I always keep a working file that holds everything but is never printed (or even formatted) as a safety against inadvertently deleting a part.
Note that there is a slight difference between blue and bright blue. When you select the piccolo player in the left-hand panel, it will turn bright blue. You should then make sure that both the full score and piccolo layouts in the left hand panel are have their boxes ticked, as well as the flow in the bottom panel.
If that doesn’t work, please post your project file here so someone can look at it.

There is no piccolo part anywhere. I have added and deleted empty-handed players and renamed them and done what the help files have said, but there is never a piccolo part there.
One Score layout that is listed is strangely formatted with ledger lines, notes, and staves all over themselves, while obviously I have a screen shot of the correct one. But I am afraid to do anything about the rogue one.
I’m told that the project file is too large. It’s only 15 pages, but 4MB is too large.
The piccolo staff is AT THE BOTTOM. How did it get there. I thought the software was supposed to put it where it belongs according to the setup file.
Anyway, I now have to find a way to get it to the top and add the music to it.
How do i do that?
Take a look at Layout Options > Players. Make sure the full score layout is selected in the right-hand panel of that dialog. Are you using a custom player order?
Go to Play > Playback Template, apply the Silence template, and then save the file as a copy. This should be small enough to upload.
