Playhead control without a numeric keypad

I’m trying to jump around with the playhead, but I can’t use the “.” on a laptop keyboard. I tried creating a keyboard shortcut for it, but the command doesn’t work. Any ideas on how to get around this without resorting to a mouse??

Welcome to the forum, @James_Alvarez !

The manual points out that you can use Ctrl/Cmd+F7 and Ctrl/Cmd+F9 to move backwards and forward by frames. And although the manual doesn’t say so, it looks like you can use F7 and F9 by themselves to move backwards and forwards by larger amounts (same as Num+ and Num-). @Lillie_Harris Should this be added to the docs?

I was able to use the Preferences window to add a custom key command to Play > Move Playhead To > Start of Flow, and it worked just fine for me.

It’s so difficult to find a command that is not used; luckily i found that command-k is not in use. Thanks!

True. But there are probably many you will never use, so they could be re-purposed?

I purchased a numeric keypad. I do not use it all the time, but sometimes it is quite useful.
